Light liquid paraffin—also known as "white oil"—is referred to in English as *Light liquid paraffin*, *Paraffinum Liquidum Leve*, or *Light mineral oil*. In essence, light liquid paraffin is a mixture of various liquid saturated hydrocarbons derived from petroleum, consisting primarily of paraffinic and cyclic hydrocarbons. Its general chemical structural formula is typically considered to be CnH2n+2; furthermore, the *United States National Formulary* (USP NF20) permits the inclusion of appropriate stabilizers—such as BHA, BHT, or Vitamin E—within the product.
The applications of light liquid paraffin mirror those of standard liquid paraffin; it is predominantly utilized as an excipient in topical pharmaceutical formulations, where its emollient properties make it a valuable component of ointment bases. Additionally, light liquid paraffin is incorporated into oil-in-water emulsions as well as polyethylene glycol/glycerol emulsions. It also serves as a solvent and lubricant in the manufacture of tablets and capsules, and acts as an oily medium in numerous pharmaceutical microencapsulation processes. Our company's production methodology involves utilizing food-grade light liquid paraffin—produced via hydrogenation to ensure superior initial quality—as our primary raw material. Through a series of advanced refining processes, we enhance the product's quality parameters and overall purity, thereby ensuring full compliance with the quality standards stipulated in the 2015 Edition (Volume II) of the *Chinese Pharmacopoeia*.
